Emotionally Intelligent Parenting

This 10 week evening programme has been designed for parents who are interested in gentle, positive parenting. Each workshop will combine theory and technique with an opportunity for group discussion, support and meeting other parents. The programme has been designed, and will be delivered, by psychologist and coach Helen Haynes. All parents, grandparents and carers are welcome. The content will be appropriate for those with children of all ages, from 0 to 18.

Emotional Intelligence has been empirically linked to positive developmental outcomes in children, such as subjective well-being, adaptive coping, improved mental health, academic achievement and physical and psychological health. Some forward-thinking schools have started to introduce emotional intelligence in to the curriculum. It is important for parents to support this at home in order to see the maximum benefit.

The theory and techniques covered within this programme have the potential to improve your own wellbeing, mental health and confidence, as well as improving your relationship with your child/children and partner. There are direct benefits for you, your child/children and those around you.

Helen has worked with children and parents in a range of government and voluntary sector roles. She also has a two year old daughter, who she is raising using a gentle, positive parenting approach. Helen has spent years studying the positive benefits of emotional intelligence on interpersonal relationship dynamics and has a masters degree in Occupational Psychology from the University of Nottingham.

Each of the workshops will provide a supportive space to reflect on the way we interact with our children. There will be no judgement. Helen will simply introduce a number of theories and techniques which can be discussed. The programme has been designed to enable people to go away and try some of the techniques discussed and then return to the next session with feedback and/or follow-up questions, although there is no obligation to do so.

Helen will provide support and coaching via email and text message throughout the duration of the 10 week programme.

There are 16 spaces available per programme.
